Sayaw PD after MIPAM: a milestone shared

Sayaw PD has marked the end of its Manila International Performing Arts Market showcase with a note of thanks to the people around the work — the dancers, the mentors and collaborators who shaped it, and the friends and supporters who travelled with it.

“Beyond the stage, the lights, and the applause are the people who believed in the dream,” the company wrote. The photographs from the Cultural Center of the Philippines, it added, are “more than keepsakes from a successful performance”: they record friendships, gratitude and a community brought together by a belief in movement, artistry and Ilonggo talent.

For Novy Bereber the occasion also carried the memory of his late husband, Ignatius Jones AM, whose influence the company describes as a continuing part of his journey. Jones — the Manila-born Australian who directed Vivid Sydney and the Sydney Mardi Gras parade, and with whom Novy ran the Stiletto Parties in Surry Hills — died in Iloilo City in May 2024. Sayaw PD also thanked its technical director, wiL Laxa, for the work behind the advocacy.

“The performance may have ended,” the post closed, “but we return home carrying something greater: beautiful memories, deeper connections, and even more reasons to keep moving forward.”
