Panay News: From Festival Spotlights to Powerful Premieres

“Movement takes center stage as Western Visayas prepares for a vibrant season of premieres and prestigious festival showcases, bringing local artistry into the national spotlight.”

The Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Manila International Performing Arts Market features Sayaw PD, represented by the Iloilo Bereber Dance Company, with Nosi Ba Lasi, Fuego, Anak Asia and an early preview of LUBID. Joining them to represent Western Visayas is ECD Dance Company Philippines with the heritage-rich Ilonggo Suite.

On 23 October the Sayaw PD Organization hosts Ballet Manila for a special staging of Ibong Adarna, Gerardo Francisco Jr.’s acclaimed adaptation, under artistic director Lisa Macuja-Elizalde.

The season culminates on 11 November at Rose Memorial Hall with the world premiere of Lubid: Untangling Misconceptions and Resilience in Parkinson’s Disease, supported by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. Directed and choreographed by Novy Bereber, with costume design by Tata Pinuela and production design by Ron Espinosa, it brings together the joint talents of the Iloilo Bereber Dance Company and ECD Dance Company Philippines.
